Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is reining in player wages this year.
The Sun says Chelsea are introducing a new hard-line policy on contract top-ups which is designed to cut costs.
Roman Abramovich reckons the club have lost as much as £70m paying salaries to players who contributed little. Juan Veron, Hernan Crespo and Andriy Shevchenko cost around £41m in wages when they were on loan at other clubs.
And word has come down from Abramovich that the same mistakes must not be made again. |
